The primary mission of the Malheur County Juvenile Department is to protect the public from juvenile crime and delinquency. The department holds criminal and delinquent youth accountable for their behavior through a system of graduated sanctions, restorative justice and appropriate supervision, and requires appropriate treatment and training of youths and families based upon a variety of risk assessments. The Juvenile Department is also primarily responsible for legal proceedings relating to children who are victims of abuse or neglect and may require out-of-home placement or other services. It works closely with a variety of other state and local agencies and the courts to provide for the care and safety of these children. | Rock bluffs along the Owyhee River |
