Model Policies on Zero Tolerance and PREA Coordinator



Zero Tolerance Policy

The (Agency) maintains a zero tolerance policy for all forms of sexual abuse and harassment. This zero tolerance policy affects all adults and youth who work, volunteer, reside or visit the agency.



PREA Coordinator Policy

The (Agency) Director designates a manager within the agency to serve as the PREA coordinator for the department. Currently the PREA coordinator is (Name and Title).

a) The PREA coordinator is responsible for developing written policies that follow juvenile justice best practices and meet or exceed the PREA standards.

b) The PREA coordinator is responsible to develop and implement a training plan that fulfills the PREA training standards.

c) The PREA coordinator monitors resident screening procedures, investigations, reviews of events, and medical and mental health health care treatment according to PREA standards.

d) The PREA coordinator is responsible for PREA data collection efforts.

e) The PREA coordinator is responsible to be the point person for PREA audits and investigations.

f) The PREA coordinator produces an annual PREA report for the department director detailing events, areas of accomplishment and areas needing work to improve regarding compliance with PREA standards. This report is open to the public after review by the director.

g) The PREA coordinator gives regular PREA updates to all management staff at least monthly or more often if needed.
